Indianapolis Healthcare Waste Facts

Indiana Department of Environmental Management regulated the creation, storage, transportation, and treatment of regulated medical waste in the State of Indiana.

Like many other states, Indiana recommends treating medical waste through a commercial treatment center by autoclave. We at Superior treat all of our clients waste using a permitted commercial autoclave to ensure the proper disinfection of the waste prior to final disposal.

Unlike your neighbor up North, Indiana doesn't have a time limit policy on the storage of medical waste. However, one must not store medical waste until it becomes pungent or ruins the container it is placed inside of. We recommend having all medical waste removed from your Indy facility every 90 days or less.

Each facility must have a shipping document from the time the transporter leaves your facility and a second document once your waste is treated by the treatment center. We provide our customers digital shipping documents that go directly to their emails with signatures from your office representative, our transporter, and our treatment center representative. So you always have documentation of where your waste is going,
